Student Affairs Office 

Reporting to the Director/Associate Director of Student Affairs, the appointee is expected to play a key role in assisting the senior management of the University in developing policies, strategic plans, quality assurance mechanisms, and management systems for the provision of counselling services in the University.  He/she will be responsible for overseeing the planning, development, and implementation of various areas in the Counselling Services Section, with a specific focus on student counselling, support for students with special educational needs, and related university-wide wellness and awareness programmes.  As an experienced practitioner, the appointee is expected to provide psychological counselling services to students suffering from mental health issues and consultation with staff in supporting students.  The appointee will also handle crisis cases and conduct relevant studies in areas related to psychological wellness and developmental aspects necessary for informed decision-making at both the University and Unit levels. 

Applicants should have a Bachelor's degree in Counselling, Psychology, or related disciplines, along with a professional qualification in Counselling, Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology or equivalent.  A minimum of 8 years of relevant post-qualification experience, preferably in higher education context, is required.  They should demonstrate the ability to administer psychological assessments and tests related to personality and personal development.  They should possess excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, high initiative and team-leading abilities, and a strong command of both English and Chinese (including Putonghua).

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. 

Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract. Fringe benefits include the University’s Voluntary Contributions to MPF Scheme or a contract-end lump sum payment (totaling up to 15% of the basic salary), leave, medical and dental benefits, and, where applicable, housing benefits. The appointee will hold a substantive rank of Senior Counsellor in the University.
