Volunteer Development Manager
The Hong Kong Red Cross was established in 1950. We belong to the World's largest humanitarian network and provide impartial and quality care to protect life and health, and to enhance the capacity of vulnerable people to live a safe and dignified life. Our services include disaster relief, special education, volunteer service, first aid and health training, and blood transfusion.
Job Purpose:
The position is to provide leadership for “Development and Community Partnership” Team of Volunteer Development Service (VDS). S/he works closely with the Senior Manager of VDS to lead development and execution of volunteer teams’ development and community partnership to support the HKRC in delivering its humanitarian services to fulfill its vision and mission. S/he will ensure effective implementation of the strategies and actions to provide a volunteer-friendly environment and system to increase the participation of volunteers in humanitarian work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate the discussion on formulating volunteer development strategies to ensure the provision of volunteer-friendly environment and system so as to increase the participation of volunteers in humanitarian work and strengthen the human capital and foundation of HKRC humanitarian service.
- Facilitate the process in formulating advocacy strategies and execution to promote the principles and values on volunteering of the HKRC both internally and externally.
- Facilitate the discussion with corresponding working groups and volunteer groups including soliciting advice and support to advise the senior management on overall members and volunteer management.
- Develop volunteer capacity building and engagement related policies, guidelines, development plans, proposals and business plans.
- Proactively manage different volunteer teams in delivering humanitarian services to community.
- Responsible for the planning and execution of annual volunteer development events to foster volunteer engagement.
- Develop a cohesive and effective team and facilitate the team members in planning and managing volunteer capacity building and engagement related services or projects, and in monitoring needs and practices to make sure the team members work well together and remain focused on the right priorities.
- Develop effective coordination platform to ensure a dynamic knowledge sharing and peer to peer learning approaches among service units.
- Provide support and guidance to service departments/units on volunteer development and engagement to ensure service quality.
- Maintain effective relationships with external stakeholders, including local social service sector, members of the International Red Cross Red Crescent Societies to gain knowledge, collaboration and support.
- Contribute to building and developing public image public image of the Hong Kong Red Cross on volunteer development.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree Holder in Social Science, Gerontology, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years’ post-qualification working experience in social services, preferably in volunteer management project management and stakeholders collaboration is desired.
- Genuine commitment to volunteer development services.
- Sound skill in resources management including staff training and development.
- Good ability and proven experience in event and project management.
- Familiar with the operation environment and volunteering culture, and the needs on volunteering.
- Understand the external environment on volunteer service in local and overseas.
- Mature personality, strategic minded with vision, strong interpersonal, management and leadership skills.
- Good command of both written and oral English, Chinese/Cantonese/Putonghua.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, including public speaking skills that are persuasive and confident in style.
- Willing to work on Saturdays, Sundays or public holidays if needed.
