世界盃不僅僅是一個足球比賽，透過世界盃，可以學習各個國家的基本資料、文化、生活素質等等。筆者作為一個90後，第一次有意識地看世界盃是2002年的日韓世界盃，當屆巴西隊在無敵3R帶領下一關過一關，最後更奪得冠軍。記得當時很多大人在決賽—巴西大戰德國的戲碼中，不斷說甚麼東德西德，明明只有德國國家隊。之後翻查歷史，我才開始留意原來德國曾經分開為東、西德，後來因為柏林圍牆倒冧，德國終於統一。世界盃其實是一個好好的契機去認識每一個參賽國家，簡單如認識和分辨各地國旗或國家名稱。然後，到認識一個地方的面積、人口、首都等等。甚至乎，在不同大戰的戲碼中引出不同的問題：為什麼英格蘭與阿根廷是世仇呢？原來除了馬勒當拿的上帝之手外，還因為兩國在球場外的戰爭，令兩國人民互相生厭。推而廣之，不同人追捧隊伍的原因反映了他們的個性和性格喜好：
巴西足球：文化豐富、充滿激情，足球風格以技巧和速度為主，球員具有很高的個人能力和創造力。巴西球迷也非常熱情，經常在場上跳舞和唱歌，這反映了巴西文化中的激情和藝術氛圍。喜歡南美足球如巴西、阿根廷足球的朋友，因為他們喜歡技巧花巧的動作和著重欣賞技術。
