Start with a Sketch

I’ve hated drawing since elementary school. My painting has always relied on the help of teachers. I have no concept of space. I often choose the wrong side when I’m drawing. Now, I’m taking sketching classes and trying to learn how to sketch. 

My purpose of learning sketching is to be able to draw the scenes during my travels. Taking photos is a way to record scenes while traveling. I still look forward to painting on my own. My teacher has been teaching painting for over 30 years. She knows how to use the right tools to create a good painting. Without the right tools, we cannot show the value of a painting. 

In my first class, my teacher showed us how to practice basic skills when we are free. She even shared with us that a piece of painting takes time and patience. It usually takes several months to complete. The texture, structure, and brightness of a painting often depend on how an artist paints it. Also, all things are composed of geometric shapes.

I started to practice drawing lines on a blank paper after the class. Through practice, I realize that it’s not easy to draw a straight line. I often draw a straight line with a ruler. Can you still have a straight line without a ruler? Give it a try and maybe we’ll discover something new in the repeated behavior!
