12 Ways to Motivate Yourself to Write

1. Make a writing schedule

The first thing уou ѕhould d𝗈 iѕ ѕet a ѕchedule f𝗈r when уou'll write. Whether уou're writing f𝗈r a writing clаѕѕ, a blоg, or a bооk, it'ѕ a gооd idea to stick tо a routine. Once уou're comfortable with уour ѕchedule, уou can plan hоw lоng it'll take уou to complete a piece of writing and give уourѕelf an incentive tо keep gоing. Setting аѕide a specific time each day tо write will help уou fосuѕ оn уour wоrk and enѕure that уou finiѕh уour wоrk by the deadline.

2. Find the perfect place to write

When writing, it's easy to get distracted and lose concentration. If you're a perfectionist, you may feel guilty if you get out of rhythm. That's why it's important to find a quiet place at home or at work where you can concentrate. You may not even need a dedicated space to write, as long as you've somewhere to jot down ideas or just get comfortable. That way, your mental concentration won't be affected by your surroundings. Having a mirror nearby can also help you stay motivated and remind you to keep going.

3. Write in short intervals

Some writers find it so difficult to begin that they do not want to continue until they've written a large number of words. However, the rule of thumb for any writing process is to write in short bursts and then take a break. It's important that you try to write something every hour or so, and not too long at a stretch, or you'll lose motivation. This will not only keep you motivated, but also improve your writing skills.

4. Keep the momentum going

After you've completed a draft of a text, it's important to update it to keep it moving. It's also important to write regularly because the more you write, the more familiar you become with your text, which is helpful when you're trying to revise a paper.

5. Reward Yourself

It is important that you get the most out of your writing. You can introduce a reward system to motivate yourself. For example, you could set yourself a daily word target, such as a certain number of words or sentences. Your reward is a small amount of money when you reach the target. You can use the money to have a coffee, buy a book or spend it on a purchase that will be useful in future writing sessions.

6. Make sure you've the right equipment

Use your writing pad or laptop for just about everything you write. A simple pad or a laptop like the Sony Vaio will do the job. Choose a monitor that makes it easier for you to read your work and concentrate. The right equipment will help you finish your work on time and give you a sense of accomplishment.

7. Seek advice on writing

It can be very intimidating to ask a writer for help when you're stuck, so you may be tempted not to write until you're sure of yourself. However, the right advice can have a positive impact on your writing, so try asking a writer for advice. He may even be able to give you some good advice that will help you improve your writing.

8. Challenge yourself

If you feel less motivated, try writing something else. This could be a short story or an essay about something you find interesting. This will get your creative juices flowing and open you up to ideas you haven’t had before.

9. Take a break

If you're particularly tired or just not feeling inspired, take a break. There's no point in trying too hard if you don't feel up to the task. Taking a little time out will help refresh your mind. Don't just sit down and start typing your text, but stop for a moment and think about what you want to write.

10. Don't compare yourself to other writers

When you're writing and feel like you're getting bogged down with a long piece of work, it can be tempting to compare yourself to other writers. However, this will only make you feel worse, and it may even have a negative impact on your writing skills. Don't let jealousy and competition get in the way of your writing success.

11. Surround yourself with good people

Find people with a similar mindset. People who will keep you going, people with whom you will find support. You will find that people with the same mindset will always push you to achieve your goals, while those who are not focused will give you excuses why you cannot or should not do something.

12. Run a Writing Game

If you’re not getting the writing done that you want to, try some sort of game plan. If you need to, try writing something short, something long, something silly, something meaningful. Make it into a game, if that makes it easier. It will help you move from just writing in your notebook to writing on a regular basis. It will help you finish your creative writing goals.
