Fleet VP Operation Manager

Responsibilities:

• The job holder is accountable to the VP Commercial（operation） for all post fixture operations and ensures that the Company’s fleet of ships operates, at all times, with dispatch, while ensuring the safety of the vessels and their crews. The job holder’s understanding of operational issues and their legal and commercial implications allow him to guide the ship’s masters in protecting owners’ and charterers’ interests.
• The job holder, with his understanding of port and trading requirements, communicates frequently with the company’s head team. Effective relationship building with key stakeholders requires strong communication, negotiating and analytical skills in a market where time is a key consideration in profitability. The role calls for a clear sense of vision, perspective, balance and pragmatism.
• The job holder is responsible for the efficient handling and settlement of all operational claims raised by charterers/owners and related entities against fleet performance.
• The job holder is responsible for clearly communicating the company’s shipboard operational parameters internally and externally.
  • Ensure that the Company’s fleet of ships is efficiently managed while paying special attention to reputational risk
  • Issue and check all voyage instructions
  • Appoint port agents and check disbursement estimates and invoices
  • Coordinate bunker management for the fleet with the Vice President Commercial
  • Monitor ship board operations and guide ship staff in commercial matters.
  • Raise and process hire statements and minimize hire receivables
  • Prepare and issue circulars on various operational matters as required.

Requirements:

• Master’s degree in International shipping and good knowledge of International maritime routines/regulations;
• Minimum 2 years' experience in large dry bulk carrier operations and chartering;
• Proficiency in English and Mandarin; and
• Strong negotiation skills and details oriented.
