The phubber and a lesson

John will never forget the life-changing event that happened when he was a senior high school student. That afternoon, when John was on his way to home with his classmate, Mary, he was listening to his favorite band. John and Mary were so excited that they both got a new smartphone as their gift for doing well on their final exam. On their way home, Mary was playing games on her smartphone, and John was listening to music with headsets. There was a mother holding her child’s hand, walking behind the two students. At the time when she saw they were using their smartphone and walking at the same time, she told her child that if she did the same thing, she might have hit the tree in front of him. After a few minutes, the mother and her child saw Mary bumping into the tree. They were shocked and wondering if Mary was alright. However, John didn’t notice that Mary just hit the tree, so he kept walking with his headsets put on.

After another ten minutes, John was still playing his music so loudly that he didn’t notice a car was driving right after him, and the driver was honking the horn angrily. However, the distance between John and the car was so close that the car accidently hit him. John was sent to the hospital immediately and the his legs got serious injured. The doctor told him that he should always watch out for cars while walking on the road, and the driver should always keep a safe distance between his car and the pedestrians or cars in front of him. After blaming her patients, the doctor told John that he had to keep his legs away from water, and it would take about six months to recover from the injury. After this experience, John decided not to be a phubber again, and dedicated his life to inventing an application to remind smartphone users not to be a phubber while walking. With this creative and practical invention, John made a fortune and became a famous inventor worldwide. And he would never forgot the lesson that the doctor and the driver taught him.
