The priority seat and a life-changing experience
John would never forget the life-changing moment that drove him to be a police officer, who seeks justice all his life.
As a senior high school student, John often caught up on his sleep on his way to school, which means the likelihood of his occupying a priority seat all the time, ignoring every fierce glare from other passengers. He thought that occupying a priority seat for his sleep was such a good, and even convenient thing until an accident happened. It was a sunny day, on which John and his classmates decided to have a basketball game on the court. However, the terrible accident happened. While John was stopping his opponents from seizing the ball, he carelessly sprained his ankle, and fell to the ground in pain. The game halted, and the nurse told him that he had to rely on a crutch for an entire month.
From that day forward, he had to walk with a crutch no matter where he went.
However, due to the working schedule of his parents, John had to go to school by bus despite the fact that he had to rely on a crutch. Next morning, when he got on the bus, hoping to find a priority seat to sit and rest, but ended up finding that a little girl was sitting on it. Not noticing John’s situation, the girl sat on the seat, reading her story book happily. After seeing the little girl, John thought about his past misbehavior, and felt regret and shame for not yielding his seat to someone in need. That day, he learned a lesson form this experience: Never be a selfish person who neglects others’ needs. After a period of time, John finally recovered from his sprained ankle, and set his mind on being a police officer, mending his mistake by being more virtuous. He would uphold justice and urge passengers to offer their seats to whoever is pregnant, sick, or elderly.
This time, he would never be so selfish again.
